Because of the need to find appropriate child care for children with special needs in the early morning and after school hours, Bornhava has a respite care program, utilizing our building and staff resources, that supplements our regular school sessions.

Very often, the primary caregivers of a child with special needs are faced with their own need to have some additional time and space from the challenges which come with their care-giving roles. Job obligations, medical appointments, family commitments, or just a few hours of personal “time-out” can be accommodated through our before and after school respite program. Trained staffers provide high quality care, a stimulating environment, and the consistency of familiar routines. Children with special needs, from three to seven years of age, are eligible for this service at a very modest cost. This respite program runs from 7:45 A.M. to 9 A.M. and from 2:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M., during the periods when school is in regular session. Special "date nights" and occasional Saturday afternoon respite are offered throughout the year.
