Addressing Bornhava's Growing Needs
Since 1998, our current home at 25 Chateau Terrace in Amherst has served us well. However, as demand for Bornhava’s services has continued to grow, the space we have now presents some challenges. The limitations not only impact the comfort of our operations but also curtail the number of children we are able to serve at our main campus. To address these pressing issues, Bornhava’s leadership and planning committees have explored various solutions—including relocation, new construction, or expansion of our existing facilities.
After extensive deliberation and consultation with respected local real estate developers, we’ve decided that the most beneficial path forward is to remain at our current Chateau campus and expand our existing building. This decision allows us to continue serving the community from a familiar, established location and offers many distinct advantages—while addressing our critical space needs.
Announcing “Building Their Lives. Building Our Future.”
To fund this vital expansion, we are thrilled to announce the early phases of our capital campaign, “Building Their Lives. Building Our Future.” This campaign will enable us to create the necessary space to comfortably accommodate the growing needs of Bornhava—ensuring a brighter future for the children we serve and for our organization.

Expansion Goals
This expansion will allow us to enhance our existing facilities and help solve many of our space limitations. Current plans include, but are not limited to:
- A new dedicated motor room and expanded therapy spaces for both Physical (PT) and Occupational (OT) Therapy.
- Dedicated gathering and administrative spaces for meetings and training, a critical need our current building lacks.
- New entryway, relocated to improve safety and efficiency during pick up and drop off of students.
- More classrooms, increasing our potential capacity to serve additional students.
- Improved second-floor access, featuring the addition of an elevator and new stairways.
- New ADA-compliant bathrooms and update of existing bathroom facilities.
- An updated reception area to warmly welcome families and visitors.
- Further update/improvement of our outdoor playground area.
Moving Forward
Through careful planning and a multi-phased approach, we’re looking to greatly improve upon what we already have at our Chateau location—without interrupting our day-to-day operations.

During the construction phase, the safety of our staff and children will always be the absolute top priority. We are confident that we will be able to complete this project with minimal disruption to Bornhava’s day-to-day operation.
