Development Director

Full Time

Job Description:

If so, we’re currently seeking an experienced, outgoing individual to join our passionate team as Bornhava’s Development Director. The successful candidate will bring fundraising experience; a spirit of inclusion, integrity and transparency; a strategic and collaborative management style; and a drive to understand the needs of the individuals and communities that Bornhava serves. The efforts of the Development Director will be concentrated on supporting our mission “to nurture and educate differently-abled children through play, creating the foundation for them to thrive.” Bornhava provides early-intervention, educational and therapeutic services to special needs children from birth to five years of age.

The Development Director will oversee initiatives to strengthen the financial stability and future growth of Bornhava by working with the Executive Director to establish goals and work plans that support a comprehensive fundraising program. The Development Director manages all fundraising activities including individual donations, major gifts, special events, corporate giving, capital campaigns, and also assist with grants. The Development Director will develop and maintain active and productive relationships with board members, donors, staff, volunteers and key members of the Western New York community.

The Development Director works under the direction of the Executive Director to identify potential donors and evaluates their interests and capacity to give to the organization. Conducts research and prospecting to locate individuals or partners aligning with the organization’s values and mission. Helps to coordinate and execute fundraising efforts. Analyzes data for trends and creates donor profiles to assist with donor development, stewardship, and direct communications and fundraising strategy. Uses a database or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to maintain research data and donor records, execute mailing or e-mail campaigns, and create reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and approach individual, major and corporate donors.
  • Identify and approach sponsors, community partners and granters that align with the organization’s mission and values.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with donors, sponsors, corporate and community partners.
  • Maintain donor records and files. Record donor moves/contacts in a CRM.
  • Evaluate and strategize fundraising initiatives, and trends. Contribute fresh ideas to fundraising efforts.
  • Help raise awareness of the organization: Some baseline marketing knowledge or experience preferred.
  • Work with internal managers, board members and staff on funding projects.
  • Work with the marketing committee to strategize, coordinate communication initiatives, and create marketing materials.
  • Identify grant proposal opportunities, conduct research and write grant proposals.
  • Account for and track donations.
  • Prepare budgets and financial reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

  • Satisfactory clearance of a criminal background check.
  • May be required to work evenings or weekends to attend meetings or support fundraising events.

Salary: $50,000.00 – $71,000.00 per year

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years experience in a similar roll.
  • Excellent relationship builder—high energy, creative and enthusiastic.
  • Experience organizing and managing fundraising events.
  • Experience coordinating and managing volunteers.
  • Experience running or prticipating in a capital campaign is a strong plus.

Teacher Aide

Job Description:

Bornhava is seeking a Full Time Teacher Aide. The Teacher Aide is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating all aspects of each educational program for children with special needs. Experience and/or interest in working with preschool children who have special needs is required.  Ability to relate well to other and work cooperatively is necessary.

Substitute Teacher Aide

Job Description:

Bornhava is seeking substitute teacher aides full-time and part-time available.  The position is responsible for assisting in implementing the specific educational plan for the assigned student. The teacher aide assists the child in increasing his/her independence, adjusting to new situations, and preparing them for new areas of learning. Experience and/or interest in working with toddlers and preschool children who have special needs is required.  The substitute may travel to our various locations. Ability to relate well to other and work cooperatively is necessary.
