What To Expect
Bornhava’s program places a strong emphasis on the involvement of the whole family as an integral part of the Early Intervention Program. Our birth to 3-year-old program provides a unique combination of home visits by a certified special education teacher or licensed therapist, and the opportunity for groups at the center. Each child’s schedule is determined by the team, including family, teacher and therapists, once the services that most appropriately meet each child’s needs are identified. Bornhava’s EIP is funded primarily by the New York State Dept. of Health, and by Erie or Niagara County Department(s) of Health.
When your child turns 3 years old, your school district becomes involved in planning for your child. As you transition from Early Intervention, along with your ongoing service coordinator, we are available to answer any questions and assist as you navigate this process. As your child transitions from the EIP, a developmental evaluation of your child must be completed before their 3rd birthday. Your school district’s Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) will meet with you to discuss the results of the evaluation and programming, if eligible, for the 3-5 program. Bornhava will be involved with you during this CPSE transition process and beyond if your child is placed with us for preschool services.
