JOB OPENINGS

Program Support Teacher- 12 Month Position

Bornhava is seeking a full-time Program Support Teacher.

Collaborate with E.D. and Director of Programming to support interdisciplinary team in developing and implementing appropriate programming for children and their families across all our sites.

Duties Include: 

  • Coordinates and monitors the interdisciplinary team in implementing IEP’s and IFSPs, by scheduling and participating in all team meetings.
  • Reviews IEP’s and IFSP’s to ensure accuracy related to student demographics, program placement and related service provision.
  • Monitors, evaluates and makes recommendation for changes related to existing programs or the need to develop new programs.
  • Determines, with Program Director and interdisciplinary team, the appropriate placement of child by reviewing child’s educational and medical records.
  • Attends CPSE and IFSP meetings for evaluations and service provision, as needed.
  • Works in conjunction with the Social Worker to facilitate education and discussion groups for families including orientation, open house and social events for families to encourage and provide support and growth for the family unit.
  • With Program Director, plans and implements tours for caregivers of children who are possible candidates for enrollment.
  • Interacts with parents on various projects throughout the year as well as on issues dealing directly with children’s placement and classroom management.
  • Supervises, evaluates, creates goals related to staff performance for current employees and, if warranted, supports staff in need of improvement.
  • Plans and participates in meeting with special education teachers, special instructors, teacher aides and related service providers as needed to maintain consistent communication and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Works in conjunction with the Executive Director for compliance with State and County regulations, including program re-approvals, audits, grant writing and program modification preparation.
  • Sits on various Bornhava committees and attends Board meetings upon invitation.
  • Collaborates with the Leadership Team in interviewing, hiring, on-boarding, and training new staff.
  • Assists in upholding agency policy and the Bornhava Strategic Plan.
  • In conjunction with the Staff Development Committee, develops/participates in training programs (30 hours of in-service training during Day Care licensing period).
  • Works with community agencies to give input on community wide policy on education for children with developmental disabilities.
  • Participates in continuing education activities to remain current on trends in the field and maintain certifications/licensure.
  • Performs other related duties to meet the mission and vision of the organization.

 

 

Speech Language Pathologist - Full Time w/ Travel

Bornhava is seeking a full-time Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) for our sites.

The SLP will plan and implement program to facilitate speech/language development of preschool children (3-5 years old). Evaluate and diagnose speech, language and communication difficulties. Provide support to classroom team and parents for treatment options. Establish expectations and goals for treatment.

Qualifications:

MS degree, TSLD, Certificate of Clinical Competence and NYS licensure.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $35,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year

Special Education Teacher - Full Time

Bornhava is looking for a Preschool/Early Childhood Special Education Classroom Teacher – Students with Disabilities Birth-2 Certified or Certified Eligible.

The Teacher is the transdisciplinary team leader.

A Teacher must be able to consistently and successfully perform the essential functions of the position:

  • Establish and monitor individual casebooks, data collection and charting systems
  • Manage behavioral challenges
  • Supervise and manage activities of aides assigned to the classroom
  • Assure that appropriate curriculum is established and implemented
  • Organize an effective classroom environment
  • Administer appropriate and effective instructional strategies
  • Coordinate and collaborate with related services team
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate with families and external service providers\
  • Demonstrate professional knowledge of children with developmental disabilities
  • Demonstrate professional writing skills
  • Assure deadlines are met
  • Adheres to the mission of Bornhava: To nurture and educate children with special needs through play, while empowering their families.

QUALIFICATIONS

Written communication Proficient
Experience with preschool children with special needs is preferred.

Required: NYS Special Education Permanent certificate or Students with Disabilities Birth-2 or actively working toward certification.

Education Preferred

  • Bachelors or better in Special Education or related fields.
  • Masters or better in Special Education or related field.

Occupational Therapist - Full Time

Bornhava is seeking a full time occupational therapist to travel between three community sites within Erie and Niagara counties. The Occupational Therapist works as an integral part of the team in planning and implementing strategies and activities to meet an individual child’s needs as outlined in his/her Individualized Education Plan. This position requires skills and experience in evaluating children birth to five years of age to determine eligibility for services, levels of functioning and progress toward goals. Applicant must have a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and must be a Licensed Occupational Therapist with 2-years’ experience in a special education preschool.

Teacher Aide - Full Time

Bornhava is seeking a Full Time Teacher Aide. The Teacher Aide is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating all aspects of each educational program for children with special needs. Experience and/or interest in working with preschool children who have special needs is required.  Ability to relate well to other and work cooperatively is necessary.

Substitute Teacher Aide

Bornhava is seeking substitute teacher aides full-time and part-time available.  The position is responsible for assisting in implementing the specific educational plan for the assigned student. The teacher aide assists the child in increasing his/her independence, adjusting to new situations, and preparing them for new areas of learning. Experience and/or interest in working with toddlers and preschool children who have special needs is required.  The substitute may travel to our various locations. Ability to relate well to other and work cooperatively is necessary.
