OUR CORE VALUES

BORNHAVA; PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE

THE STORY BEHIND BORNHAVA

Bornhava began its mission in 1983 to meet the need in our community of a place for young children with disabilities to receive services. Our first year we had two classrooms in the Harlem Road Elementary School. At that time, we had nine preschool children and six staff members. Due to construction, Bornhava eventually moved to the Park School in 1988. In 1998, Bornhava purchased our present location at 25 Chateau Terrace. There were approximately 160 children, birth to five years of age receiving services at that time.

At present, we have an Early Intervention group and four full day preschool classrooms at our Chateau location. We have five integrated preschool classrooms within the community. Our community based program provides special education and related services to children in their homes and other community locations. Our provide evaluations in all areas of development for hundreds of children each year. Annually, we connect with approximately 500 families in at least 17 different school district throughout Erie and Niagara Counties.

Our future is looking positive! We are continuing to pursue our mission and vision. We are also looking to expand or move to a larger location to help service even more children and families. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that relies on private donations and grants to allow us to run on an annual basis. There is no cost to our families who use our services. Thank you to everyone who supports us as we continue helping the children of Western New York!
