JOB OPENINGS

Program Director - Full Time

Bornhava is seeking a full-time Program Co-Director – Special Education to manage and monitor all aspects of programming for special needs children birth to 5 years and their families.  This position works closely with the Program Co-Director – Therapeutic and ensures that the IEP’s and IFSP’s goals are implemented and monitored by working closely with the interdisciplinary teams.  The incumbent will collaborate with the Leadership Team on developing the Bornhava Strategic Plan and agency policy. The Program Co-Director will supervise and support all program staff.

 

Qualifications:

Education:       Masters of Science Degree in Special Education (Birth to Second Grade preferred)
Certification:   Certificate in Special Education, Certificate in School Administration and Supervision (SAS) or School Building Leader Certificate (SBL) (completed or in process of completion)
Experience:     Minimum of 3 years of special education in an early childhood program (Birth – 5)
Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience of staff in an early childhood program
Knowledge of county and state education, early intervention and preschool regulations and funding streams.

Speech Language Pathologist - Full Time

Bornhava is seeking a Full Time Speech Language Pathologist. The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible to plan and implement a program to facilitate speech/language development of children, birth to 5 years and work collaboratively in a classroom team environment. SLP will provide speech-language therapy as outlined in the child’s Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or Individualized Education Plan (IEP), communicate regularly with family and consult with classroom team to develop an ongoing environment for language learning. Functions include: providing therapy, on-line record keeping, report writing, participation in team meeting.

NYS Licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist, and NYS Certification as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped or as a Teacher of Speech students with Language Disabilities (TSSLD).

Previous experience working with pediatrics is desirable. Ability to relate well to others and work cooperatively is necessary.

1:1 Aide - Part Time

Bornhava is seeking part-time 1:1 teacher aides for children ages 1-3 years.  The 1:1 Teacher Aide assists in implementing the specific educational plan for the assigned child.  The teacher aide helps the child to increase his/her independence, adjust to new situations, and prepare them for new areas of learning. Experience and/or interest in working with toddlers and preschool children who have special needs isrequired.  Ability to relate well to other and work cooperatively is necessary.

Teacher Aide - 8:1:3 Classroom

Bornhava is seeking a Full Time Teacher Aide for an 8:1:3 classroom. The Teacher Aide is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating all aspects of each educational program for children with special needs. Experience and/or interest in working with preschool children who have special needs is required.  Ability to relate well to other and work cooperatively is necessary.

Substitute Teacher Aide - Part Time

Bornhava is seeking substitute teacher aides full-time and part-time available.  The position is responsible for assisting in implementing the specific educational plan for the assigned student. The teacher aide assists the child in increasing his/her independence, adjusting to new situations, and preparing them for new areas of learning. Experience and/or interest in working with toddlers and preschool children who have special needs is required.  The substitute may travel to our various locations. Ability to relate well to other and work cooperatively is necessary.

Floating Teacher Aide - Full Time

Bornhava is seeking a Full Time Floating Teacher Aide to assist at all Bornhava sites. The position is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating all aspects of each educational program for children with special needs. Experience and/or interest in working with preschool children who have special needs is required.  Ability to relate well to other and work cooperatively is necessary. Reliable transportation to travel to other Bornhava sites
