JOB OPENINGS

Charitable Contributions Coordinator - Exempt Full Time

Under the direction of the Executive Director the Charitable Contributions Coordinator is to develop and implement a development plan to raise vital funds for Bornhava.  Responsibilities will include developing, implementing, and evaluating fund development strategies that will meaningfully engage and motivate donors to meet annual fund development goals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Includes, but are not limited to:

  • Working with the Executive Director to set annual goals for all aspects of the Annual Appeal, Development Events, Virtual Events and Private Grants
  • Develop and execute Bornhava’s annual fundraising plan
  • Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors, securing financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations
  • Research, prepare and submit grant applications to private foundations and prioritize recurring grants from established donors
  • Manage private grant application processes, updates, and grant reporting
  • Research and identify potential donors and sponsors and implement strategies to foster positive relationships
  • Develop and organize all aspects of Bornhava’s fundraising programs which include organizing the project with expected outcomes from beginning to end
  • Work with Marketing Committee of the Board to create print marketing materials related to fundraising
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with program recipients, donors, vendors, volunteers, and friends of the organization within the community
  • Research donation programs and opportunities available through local, state and federal programs
  • Work with the CFO to create reports post-event to analyze data and determine the effectiveness of the fundraising program
  • Meet with the Leadership Team to gauge business needs and brainstorm ideas for fundraising programs for the coming year
  • Works with the Executive Director to provide presentations/tours with prospective donors, supporters, relevant partners and community groups that expand the awareness of Bornhava’s programs, thus increasing referrals and contributions
  • Understand the current needs of Bornhava programs and seek to meet those needs by securing resources and partnerships with other agencies, nonprofits and communities
  • Perform other duties as required and participate in other activities as needed
  • Support and embrace the mission of Bornhava by participating on committees and events as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma minimum Associates in Marketing/Development or related field
  • Minimum two years plus experience in development in professional fundraising /development to include applied knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations with foundations, individuals, corporations and other sources
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership and a style that motivates volunteers
  • Experience measuring data and outcomes of events to determine marketing effectiveness
  • Have knowledge and experience in fund raising, networking and building collaborations
  • Understand the current needs of Bornhava and the children and families we serve
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and database applications
  • Knowledge of DonorDock, Auctria or other non-profit client management software experience/knowledge a plus
  • Positive and collaborative attitude when managing groups and overseeing initiatives
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Flexible hours when necessary
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Possess strong organizational skills with attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize projects to meet deadlines
  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. General environment requires employee to be flexible.  This work may include hours standing and walking, including up and down stairs.  Evening and weekend hours may be needed on occasion to perform work associated with this position.  Repetitive motions such as typing, turning, and bending can occur on a daily basis. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds.

Medical Professional - Part Time

Bornhava is seeking an on-site medical professional performing assessments, administering medications, coordinating referrals, and maintaining accurate documentation of all activities.  Schedule is 2-4 hours per week

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

Includes, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for identification and assessment of nursing needs for clients as assigned.
  • Administer medications as prescribed, monitor effects of medication and overall review of the regimen.
  • Ensures that all medical treatment is carried out.
  • Coordinates duties with other nursing personnel such as the substitute nurses.
  • Control of communicable diseases and infections through identification and assessment, reporting of communicable diseases and infection in accordance with the law, and implementation of appropriate protective and preventative measures.
  • Oversees records, treatment plans and medication records.
  • Management of client medical information and coordination of health care records from other providers.
  • Individual and group education in preventative health measures and health maintenance.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Staff consultation and training as assigned.
  • Family linkage and education as needed.
  • Knowledge of community health resources and keep with other community health practitioners.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • New York State License and Current Registration as an R.N.
  • Must be able to adjust readily to situations as they arise, having a special sensitivity to the needs of developmentally disabled children and adults and their families.
  • Comply with HIPAA and FERPA

Special Education Teacher - Full Time

Bornhava is looking for a Preschool/Early Childhood Special Education Classroom Teacher – Students with Disabilities Birth-2 Certified or Certified Eligible.

The Teacher is the transdisciplinary team leader.

A Teacher must be able to consistently and successfully perform the essential functions of the position:

  • Establish and monitor individual casebooks, data collection and charting systems
  • Manage behavioral challenges
  • Supervise and manage activities of aides assigned to the classroom
  • Assure that appropriate curriculum is established and implemented
  • Organize an effective classroom environment
  • Administer appropriate and effective instructional strategies
  • Coordinate and collaborate with related services team
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate with families and external service providers\
  • Demonstrate professional knowledge of children with developmental disabilities
  • Demonstrate professional writing skills
  • Assure deadlines are met
  • Adheres to the mission of Bornhava: To nurture and educate children with special needs through play, while empowering their families.

Experience with preschool children with special needs is preferred.

Required: NYS Special Education Permanent certificate or Students with Disabilities Birth-2 or actively working toward certification.

Education Preferred

  • Bachelors or better in Special Education or related fields.
  • Masters or better in Special Education or related field.

Occupational Therapist - Full Time

Bornhava is seeking a full time occupational therapist to travel between three community sites within Erie and Niagara counties. The Occupational Therapist works as an integral part of the team in planning and implementing strategies and activities to meet an individual child’s needs as outlined in his/her Individualized Education Plan. This position requires skills and experience in evaluating children birth to five years of age to determine eligibility for services, levels of functioning and progress toward goals. Applicant must have a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and must be a Licensed Occupational Therapist with 2-years’ experience in a special education preschool.

School Psychologist

Bornhava is seeking a Part Time School Clinical Psychologist to complete initial/supplemental evaluations for preschoolers age 3-5 years. Flexible schedule available. Currently, evaluations can be completed via telehealth or in-person at Bornhava. Current license and certification to deliver services to children is required. Experience and/or interest in working with toddlers and preschool children who have special needs is required. Ability to relate well to others and work cooperatively is necessary.

Teacher Aide - Full Time

Bornhava is seeking a Full Time Teacher Aide. The Teacher Aide is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating all aspects of each educational program for children with special needs. Experience and/or interest in working with preschool children who have special needs is required.  Ability to relate well to other and work cooperatively is necessary.

Substitute Teacher Aide

Bornhava is seeking substitute teacher aides full-time and part-time available.  The position is responsible for assisting in implementing the specific educational plan for the assigned student. The teacher aide assists the child in increasing his/her independence, adjusting to new situations, and preparing them for new areas of learning. Experience and/or interest in working with toddlers and preschool children who have special needs is required.  The substitute may travel to our various locations. Ability to relate well to other and work cooperatively is necessary.
