ADMISSION PROCESS
Want to be a part of the Bornhava family? There are a few steps before your child is eligible for enrollment, please see the information below. Feel free to contact us for more information.
Consult Your Child's Physician
If you feel that your child has delays in certain areas of speech, cognitive, social-emotional, or motor development, you should speak to your doctor to see if your child is falling behind on milestones. They can help refer you to Early Intervention or Committee on Preschool Education.
The CDC has a great site about child development and milestones, it even has advice on talking to your doctor.
Reach out to EI or CPSE
If you and your child’s doctor have concerns, you will reach out to:
Early Intervention Program -Children 0-2
Erie County
Niagara County
Committee on Preschool Education (CPSE) -Children 3-5
Evaluation
Your child (birth-2) will need to be evaluated by Early Intervention and again when they turn 3 for CPSE (even if they have already been evaluated by EI). There are different areas of evaluation based on your child’s needs. For example, they may only need an evaluation in speech or they may need a comprehensive evaluation in 4-5 different areas.
You will have a choice of which center handles the evaluations and you will coordinate with that center the time, date and place for the evaluations.
Determine Needs and Services
After the results of the evaluations come back, it will be determined if your child meets the criteria to be placed in a program like Bornhava.
If they do, you will schedule a meeting to discuss services. At this meeting you may request that your child attends Bornhava but it is up to the EI/School District and center availability as to which centers are available to your child to attend.
Schedule a Tour
If we are able to accept your child, you are welcome to take a tour of our campus! Come and see how much fun we have at Bornhava!
After touring centers, you will let EI/CPSE know which site you have chosen and you will be given a start date.
